What is SomasenseTM?

SomasenseTM is a therapeutic approach which is designed to allow you to move forwards from any experiences in life which have left you feeling “stuck”. When we experience a traumatic experience – which includes anything from ongoing emotional abuse or bullying to more acute forms of trauma such as an accident – our bodies respond by going into fight, flight or freeze. This memory can become trapped in our body, especially if we weren’t able to respond in the way we wanted to at the time. 

This means that, no matter how much we change our thoughts about an incident, it can continue to play over and over again every time we are in a situation which triggers a body memory of an earlier experience.


SomasenseTM combines hypnosis, mindfulness and gentle movement to work with your body’s story and to help you release and move on from previous trauma.

What to expect during a SomasenseTM session

Your SomasenseTM practitioner will help you to  access a state of deep connection with your mind and body by guiding you into a deep state of relaxation. They will then gently encourage you to explore the knowledge and memories which your body holds – your somatic narrative. 

Using a combination of mindful awareness and controlled movement, your SomasenseTM practitioner will help you release any trauma which has remained trapped in your body. 

SomasenseTM does not involve any physical contact from your therapist, instead they will encourage you to explore the sensations within your own body and take the lead from your own bodily awareness.

 SomasenseTM is a very gentle and effective form of somatic therapy which your therapist will integrate with their other therapeutic modalities.
